Cell Phone Accessory of the Day: SwitchEasy Eclipse for iPhone 4/4S

Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s about that time for Cell Phone Accessory Friday!

Today, our gaze moves to the SwitchEasy Eclipse one of the top smartphone protectors for its affordability. Essential for the low-maintenance user, it’s reliability trumps all competitors. The iPhone 4/4s cover is a $20 accessory made out of a copulation between hard and soft plastic.

Along with the Eclipse, the box includes:

    -2 anti-static screen guards
    -1 microfiber wipe
    -1 squeegee screen guard applicator
    -2 power jack connector protectors
    -1 video dock stand

image originally used by Noble Press

The Eclipse’s scratch resistant hard plastic cover allows you to effortlessly slide your mobile in and out of pockets. While the soft plastic on the left side panel gives you a nice rubber grip, you’ll have zero problems worrying about clumsy fumbles.

But it gets better. The improved textured button knobs make it easy to help you distinguish which to buttons to press, and its overall silhouette is far from bulky: the epitome of sleekness. Its casing also allows you to utilize all of your camera, microphone, speaker, ringer switch, and home and sleep/wake button features.

However it isn’t as perfect as one may believe. It lacks of rubber lining within the hard plastic shell. Without a lining, dropping your iPhone is more dangerous than it should be.

Despite the limitations, this is a good buy. If you want a sleek cover at a good price, get the SwitchEasy Eclipse!

Rokform Rockbed v3 iPhone Case Review

A hands-on review of the RokForm Rockbed v3 for iPhone

The delicacies of having an iPhone are abundant.  These sensitive smartphone devices are ruggedly sharp and potent with tech features unimaginable by our forefathers; but, most lack the daily grind protection of everyday use.  If your a busy-body on the go, moving from one place to another at unpredictable speeds, protecting your prized smartphone phone should be priority number one.

And hey, you can’t blame a guy for wanting to protect his favourite toys: it’s a dangerous world out there folks.

Here, we think we’ve found something special in the tough-sounding “iPhone case, the RokForm Rockbed.”  In thanks to exhaust manufacturer: Two Brothers Racing; operating under code-name Rokform; the new Rockbed v3 sets a new found standard in the industry of case accessories.

With competition hot on their heels, RokForm has managed to develop several models characterized as having a durable build construction composed of polycaronate, aluminum, magnesium, and even 24-carat gold. Yes, this is made in good ol’ North America.

    The specs?

The Rokbed v3 iPhone case sports a skeletal cage that slips over the iPhone 4/4s as two pieces snapping together. The cutout areas seen serve as an access point for all buttons whilst providing comfort with a secure grip.

RokForm gives you the option to order out of a whopping 13 colour selection; crossing from white to black and everything in between.

Coming along with the case is the Remote Mount System (RMS) that provides secure instant attachment to anything and placed literally anywhere. Ideally on the dash of your car, a table oriented surface, or even your motorcycle the options are endless.

The four pronged mount slips into the back of the case ever-so smoothly and securely locks with a nudge of a turn. It also has non-slip grip below the RMS mount that keeps your phone steady while resting on smooth surfaces.

But Cellular Firm doesn’t give it 100% praise.

The weak points of the Rokform Rokbed v3 is in its design. Users may find it allows dirt and grime to build up. Second it doesn’t provide any water proof protection at all, but I’m sure the keeners at Rokform a cell phone accessory genius in the works; perfecting the next model.

With that said the case is easy to remove, so regular de-griming is quite simple. Retailing at $39, a small price to pay for around the clock protection.

Q4 results: Nokia is the World’s Biggest Windows Phone Vendor

image originally used by Strategy Analytics

    Break out the champagne!

Nokia releases amazing Q4-results, winning the bragging rights as the world’s biggest window phone vendor. Of course, their partnership with Microsoft may be the sole reason the Finnish company has emerged as the world’s number one Windows Phone vendor in the world.

According to research firm, Strategy Analytics, Nokia has shipped 900, 000 Windows Phones, Nokia overtook HTC and others, gobbling up 33 percent of the market pie.

In comparison to iPhone with sales of 37-million in Q4, Windows numbers are smaller in scale but have risen at 2.7 million units, a 36 percent increase from Q3.

However, Nokia has only begun to focus of the US market, as initially, the European and Asian countries were targeted.

Strategy Analytics states that Nokia’s expansion of Windows 7 latest models like the Lumia 800 were the reason for the companies increased popularity.

Nokia is expected to launch at least one Windows Phone at the Mobile World Congress next week. As Nokia’s partnership has turned one, Nokia needs to raise the bar to be at the level competitor for the iPhone.

Here’s what Mainstream News Found in Foxconn, Apple’s Go-To Manufacturer

What did the head media honchos find in Apple’s manufacturing tree?

Between the Reuters, Bloomberg, ABC Nightline, and AppleInsider reports, here’s exactly what they found:

Reuters reports the plant floor was “spotless.” ABC adds Foxconn did not find any dire violations. While on the other hand, Bloomberg states there were a “ton of issues”, and a more detailed AppleInsider (AI) report goes on to accuse Foxconn of hiding underage workers.

According to a recent interview with the Students & Scholars Against Corporate Misbehavior (SACOM) project officer Debby Sze Wan Chan, stated, “the illegal workers were not assigned overtime or were sent to different departments, and workers were given 3 breaks instead of the accustomed one to prepare for the inspection.”

But by no means should this be a surprise. North American companies have gained notoriety of outsourcing labour to China. SACOM’s Foxconn employee sources have stated that they feel Apple does not care, as in-house Apple reps know of the harsh conditions and do nothing.

SACOM has tried to relay their findings to Apple, traveling to Apple headquarters to Cupertino, California; but, was immediately turned away by the front desk.

SACOM is not the only force trying to reform Apple but Mike Daisy as well. He leaves, “The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs” under an open license, which means anyone can access it and perform it without any cost.

iPhone 5 Rumoured For This Fall

Apple targeting fall season for iPhone 5…

Sporting speculation of a September/October release the iPhone 5 has steadily been creeping into the limelight. Based on rumoured reports from a “reliable source” this continued shift away from mid-year launches only confirms the newly adopted 12-month cycle that Apple has strategically taken.

Upon further speculating, a representative from a known iPhone supplier describes that based on Apple’s ordering plans the rumours of a new hardware release date for the autumn months is highly probable if not certain.

The same source that has successfully confirmed the March release of the long awaited iPad 3 also claims an October launch for an LTE-enabled iPhone 5.

The newly acquired information contradicts previous rumours of the iPhone 5 summer release date. It’s very unlikely that Apple will cut the life-cycle of the iPhone 4S to 8 months leading many to believe that Apple will hold off on the product launch of the iPhone 5 till later in the year, leaving us all animated for an early autumn release.
